End User Computing (EUC) is a part of the technology sector that is innovative, vibrant, and fast-changing to meet the demands of users and businesses. These characteristics make collaboration and communication within the EUC space critically important. In the UK, the EUC Forum is central to fostering positive collaboration and communication. This November, all roads lead to London for the forum’s Winter Meeting.
Representatives from across the industry will be at the EUC Forum’s Winter Meeting in London and if the Spring Meeting in March is anything to go by, the gathering later this month will be packed full of people, insights, and the latest views.
Platinum Sponsor
Access IT Automation is a platinum sponsor of the EUC Forum. David Butler-McAllister, Access IT Automation Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, said the team is looking forward to what will be the last EUC Forum event of 2024.
David said: “As active members of the EUC community of technology vendors and solution providers, we have been at a number of events around the world during 2024. The Spring Meeting of the EUC Forum was a firm highlight, and I expect the Winter Meeting to be just as good.
“There is a fantastic line-up of speakers already announced plus the Access IT Automation team will be demonstrating the Evergreen IT capabilities of our application management product, Access Capture.
“Evergreen IT as a concept has been around for a while but it is really coming into focus now with the development of new technologies. Access Capture is at the forefront of Evergreen IT innovation when it comes to application packaging, testing, and publishing.”
Evergreen Application Management Demonstration
The demonstration that will be delivered by the Access IT Automation team at the EUC Forum’s Winter Meeting will showcase the packaging, testing, and publishing of applications using Evergreen IT principles. In other words, automating the process of keeping applications up-to-date in the specified format without compromising on process quality or skimping on key steps such as testing.
David said: “Access Capture has the capability to automatically identify the release of new application updates on public repositories such as Chocolatey or Winget. This capability is essential for evergreen application management. Our demonstration will showcase this process with the end result being the publishing of an app in the Liquidware FlexApp One format via Intune.”
The Process of Evergreen Application Management
- A vendor releases an updated version of its application on a public repository such as Chocolatey or Winget.
- Access Capture automatically recognises the updated version of the app and launches the automated packaging, testing, and publishing process.
- The packaging stage comes first. In the demonstration at the EUC Forum’s Winter Meeting, the application will be packaged in the Liquidware FlexApp One format although many other application format options are available within Access Capture.
- The re-packaged application goes through smoke testing and a video of the test is automatically created and saved for future reference.
- Access Capture publishes the tested FlexApp One version of the application to Intune.
- Access Capture then manages the UAT process following Intune’s delivery of the application onto a testing machine.
David said: “Our products have always been about automation and optimising some of the most time-consuming, costly, and challenging processes that enterprise technical teams have to deal with every day. Adding capabilities to Access Capture that enable it to function according to Evergreen IT principles is a game-changer that will deliver substantial benefits. We can’t wait to demonstrate this at the EUC Forum.”
